Position Overview
The Service Technician is responsible for providing timely, high-quality service support for commercial HVAC systems at the branch level. This role focuses on troubleshooting, maintenance, equipment start-ups, and supporting customers and internal teams in the field. The Service Technician works closely with service leadership, sales engineers, and factory partners to resolve technical issues, support warranty work, and assist with building automation controls (BAC)–related service needs. Success in this role requires strong technical skills, professionalism, and the ability to manage multiple service calls in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform troubleshooting, repair, maintenance, and start-up of commercial HVAC equipment
- Respond to service calls and provide timely, professional support to customers and contractors
- Assist with equipment start-ups, warranty service, and system commissioning
- Support building automation controls (BAC) integration, diagnostics, and basic troubleshooting in the field
- Document service work accurately, including work orders, reports, and warranty documentation
- Communicate clearly with service managers, sales engineers, and internal teams regarding job status and technical findings
- Coordinate with factory representatives as needed for technical support and issue resolution
- Ensure all service work is completed safely and in compliance with company standards and procedures
- Maintain strong relationships with customers through professionalism, responsiveness, and quality workmanship
- Identify recurring service issues or equipment concerns and communicate findings to the service team
- Participate in ongoing training and development to stay current on equipment and technology
Qualifications
- 3–5+ years of HVAC service experience, preferably in commercial systems
- Strong technical understanding of commercial HVAC equipment, troubleshooting, and start-up procedures
- Experience or exposure to building automation controls (BAC) systems and field diagnostics preferred
- Ability to work independently in the field while collaborating with internal teams
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Windows, mobile service tools, and manufacturer software
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, drawings, and specifications

Position Overview
The Project Coordinator / Inside Sales Assistant supports Outside Sales Engineers by providing timely estimates, managing post-sale project coordination, and ensuring a high level of customer service. The role involves interpreting construction documents, preparing quotations, and overseeing multiple projects from bid through completion. Success in this position requires strong organizational skills, technical aptitude, and a proactive, customer-focused approach. Hands-on training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret construction plans and specifications to perform material take-offs and select HVAC materials based on project requirements
- Use manufacturer software to price materials and prepare detailed quotations for customers
- Manage post-sale activities including job booking, submittals, order entry, billing, and expediting
- Serve as a liaison between Outside Sales Engineers, factory representatives, and customers
- Maintain accurate documentation and communication throughout the project lifecycle
- Coordinate and prioritize multiple projects (30–150 active jobs) at various stages
- Assist with freight claims, factory invoices, stock sales, and credit card transactions
- Submit prior approval requests and maintain the branch bid list
- Mentor and support the quotation process as needed
Qualifications
- Engineering degree (Mechanical preferred), Building Construction degree, or comparable industry experience preferred
- Inside sales or project coordination experience, preferably in commercial HVAC
- Strong technical aptitude and product knowledge

Position Overview
The Outside Sales / Vertical Market Business Development Representative is responsible for driving growth within assigned vertical markets by developing relationships, identifying opportunities, and expanding Tom Barrow Company’s presence with key customers and partners. This role focuses on consultative, relationship-based selling with mechanical contractors, engineers, owners, and other stakeholders across targeted market segments. The ideal candidate is highly motivated, market-savvy, and comfortable working independently while collaborating closely with internal sales, engineering, and support teams. This position plays a key role in strengthening long-term partnerships and increasing market share across strategic verticals.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a business development strategy for assigned vertical markets (e.g., healthcare, education, industrial, mission critical, commercial)
- Build and maintain strong relationships with mechanical contractors, consulting engineers, owners, and end users
- Identify new project opportunities and influence specifications early in the project lifecycle
- Promote and sell Tom Barrow’s represented HVAC equipment and solutions within assigned markets
- Work closely with internal sales engineers, estimators, and support teams to ensure seamless handoff of opportunities
- Track and manage opportunities through the sales pipeline, providing regular updates and forecasts
- Attend industry events, trade shows, and networking functions to expand market presence
- Stay current on market trends, competitor activity, and customer needs within assigned verticals
- Support long-term account growth through consistent follow-up, problem solving, and value-added service
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
- 3–7+ years of outside sales, business development, or account management experience, preferably in HVAC, construction, or building systems
- Experience selling into or working within specific vertical markets strongly preferred
- Strong relationship-building and communication skills with the ability to influence multiple stakeholders
- Self-motivated, organized, and comfortable managing a large territory and sales pipeline
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with internal teams
- Proficiency with CRM tools, Microsoft Office, and basic sales reporting
- Willingness to travel within the assigned territory as required
Position Overview
The Outside Sales Representative (Applied) is responsible for promoting and selling Tom Barrow’s Applied HVAC product lines, including large, complex, and custom-engineered systems used in commercial and institutional applications. This role focuses on developing trusted relationships with consulting engineers, mechanical contractors, owners, and internal stakeholders while supporting projects from early design through installation. The Sales Representative works closely with Applied Estimators, Engineering, Inside Sales, and factory partners to deliver technically sound solutions, accurate pricing, and long-term value. Success in this role requires strong technical HVAC knowledge, consultative selling skills, and the ability to manage complex, long-cycle projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with consulting engineers, mechanical contractors, owners, and key decision-makers
- Promote and sell Applied HVAC solutions, including large air handling units, chillers, custom equipment, and engineered systems
- Engage early in the design process to influence specifications and provide technical guidance
- Collaborate with Applied Estimators and Engineering teams to review plans, specifications, and project requirements
- Present system-level solutions, equipment selections, and value engineering options to meet performance, budget, and schedule goals
- Manage and track long-cycle sales opportunities from design through award and delivery
- Coordinate closely with factory representatives on equipment selection, pricing strategy, and technical support
- Participate in design meetings, jobsite visits, presentations, and customer training sessions
- Provide ongoing project support to ensure smooth handoff from sales to execution teams
- Maintain accurate records of opportunities, customer interactions, and project status in CRM systems

Position Overview
The Estimator supports Tom Barrow’s Sales Representatives on Core HVAC product lines, which include standard equipment commonly used in commercial HVAC systems. The role is responsible for preparing accurate and timely material quotations, ensuring competitiveness and consistency across projects. Success in this position requires strong organizational skills, technical aptitude, and a proactive approach to supporting both sales teams and customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Review project specifications, drawings, and requests for quotation to generate accurate estimates on core HVAC equipment
- Select and price standard products such as air distribution, packaged equipment, fans, and sheet metal items using manufacturer tools and pricing data
- Collaborate with Sales Representatives to create and deliver strategic bids to contractors
- Provide alternate product options when appropriate to meet project requirements
- Manage multiple quotations simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines
- Communicate with internal teams, factory representatives, and customers to ensure accurate information and support throughout the bidding process
- Deliver high-quality customer service and sales support
Qualifications
- Technical aptitude and interest in HVAC systems
- Ability to read and interpret basic construction drawings and specifications
- Spanish-speaking preferred
