Service Technician

Position Overview

The Service Technician is responsible for providing timely, high-quality service support for commercial HVAC systems at the branch level. This role focuses on troubleshooting, maintenance, equipment start-ups, and supporting customers and internal teams in the field. The Service Technician works closely with service leadership, sales engineers, and factory partners to resolve technical issues, support warranty work, and assist with building automation controls (BAC)–related service needs. Success in this role requires strong technical skills, professionalism, and the ability to manage multiple service calls in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform troubleshooting, repair, maintenance, and start-up of commercial HVAC equipment
  • Respond to service calls and provide timely, professional support to customers and contractors
  • Assist with equipment start-ups, warranty service, and system commissioning
  • Support building automation controls (BAC) integration, diagnostics, and basic troubleshooting in the field
  • Document service work accurately, including work orders, reports, and warranty documentation
  • Communicate clearly with service managers, sales engineers, and internal teams regarding job status and technical findings
  • Coordinate with factory representatives as needed for technical support and issue resolution
  • Ensure all service work is completed safely and in compliance with company standards and procedures
  • Maintain strong relationships with customers through professionalism, responsiveness, and quality workmanship
  • Identify recurring service issues or equipment concerns and communicate findings to the service team
  • Participate in ongoing training and development to stay current on equipment and technology

Qualifications

  • 3–5+ years of HVAC service experience, preferably in commercial systems
  • Strong technical understanding of commercial HVAC equipment, troubleshooting, and start-up procedures
  • Experience or exposure to building automation controls (BAC) systems and field diagnostics preferred
  • Ability to work independently in the field while collaborating with internal teams
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows, mobile service tools, and manufacturer software
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, drawings, and specifications
