This month, Mike Todd, Core Products Sales Manager at TBCo Orlando, looks back at the changes he has experienced at Tom Barrow Company over the last 31 years.

Mike joined TBCo Orlando in 1994 as head of the estimating team. As an early adapter of technology, he became IT Specialist, helping the Orlando branch with the transition to computerized systems. In 1999, Mike moved to outside sales until he took on his current role as Core Products Sales Manager in 2017.

When reflecting on changes and positive shifts, Mike considered the company, as well as the Orlando branch. “Tom Barrow Company has never stopped growing and is still positioning itself to be the leader in the HVAC representative world. In Orlando, our biggest change was the addition of applied equipment in 2017 and the opportunities, education, and challenges that it brought.”

He shared the spotlight when asked to recall a milestone moment in his career with TBCo. “Earning the Rising Star Award in 1999 for top new salesman of the company was a standout moment. I have had the privilege of working under some truly supportive and wise managers that have taught me not just about product knowledge, which improved my job performance, but also, the benefits to the entire team that comes with leading by example.”

The most meaningful achievements for Mike come from serving our customers. “The most memorable accomplishments are hearing from customers that there is nobody they would rather work with than our team on a particularly tough job.”

The TBCo team keeps him motivated and brings a sense of pride. “We are surrounded by such a great chorus of folks from a wide range of backgrounds, yet we all support each other and work together towards a common purpose. This is the part of my role as Core Products Sales Manager that I enjoy most–being able to mentor and pour into the next generation of such wonderful people.”

Integrity and gratitude are at the core of Mike’s advice to someone starting their journey with TBCo. “Do the best job that you can and work hard even when nobody is looking. Admit when you’re wrong and work on making it right instead of blaming someone else. Express your gratitude to your customers and factories alike for placing their trust in you.”

Thank you, Mike, for the hard work and dedication you put into your role, your branch, and your team. With team members and mentors like you, the future is bright at Tom Barrow Company!
