At Tom Barrow Company, we are proud to continue our work with Himalayan Children’s Charities (HCC) as part of our commitment to giving back to our local and global communities. HCC creates paths out of poverty for vulnerable children and at-risk youth by fostering lives of leadership through investment in quality education, innovative mentorship, and a loving family environment.
In the latest update from HCC, Co-founder and President Bruce Keenan shared that their Rural Education Scholarship Program now supports 185 students, and HCC was able to provide food aid to 53 critically needy families in Benighat, Nepal. Seven students passed their grade 12 exams, a member of the community named Nikesh became the first HCC student to begin a PHD program, and seven students graduated from university, marking their third graduating class. It’s wonderful to see the impact HCC has on the students they serve and the broader community!
News from TBCo’s sponsored student, Bipana
We also received an update from Bipana, a Nepali student TBCo is pleased to sponsor through HCC. Bipana let us know that she has progressed to grade 12 with a focus on science and biology and is interested in playing basketball and swimming during her downtime.
Bipana recently took a trip to Benighat in the Dhading Region of Nepal with In-Country Director Dinesh Sapkota, Executive Director Mun Maya Rawal, and other students. “I had a great experience there,” she said. The purpose of the trip to Dhading was to assist 50 families in critical need. Read more in this update from Mun Maya Rawal: https://hccnepal.org/benighat-...
Bipana closed by saying, “HCC has provided me with everything that I need and made me who I am today. If it wasn't for HCC, I wouldn't have access to good education and health facilities. I would like to thank my sponsors for loving and supporting me. Your kindness means a lot. Thank you for everything.”
It’s wonderful to receive these updates from Bipana and HCC, and we look forward to continuing our work with them in 2022.
